Dikkertje Dap

For Dikkertje Dap we were asked to create an animatronic giraffe. We took on the challenge and created a full-sized "walking" giraffe. The giraffe was mounted on a cart from which the body could lower with hydraulics. The neck was puppeteered from the back and the head was remotely controlled with a specially designed control unit by Chris Clarke in the UK. The head was built in collaboration with Niklas Hermanson. The legs here puppeteered with rods.

We also built a lying version of the body with a breathing mechanism. The head/neck was made interchangeable so we could use it on both bodies.
